When did you start working at Beverley Bell Consulting & Training?

I started working for Beverley in February 2023 after a friend of mine said there was an opportunity for a role at the company.

What does your job entail on a daily basis?

My role currently involves a mix of duties. I was initially employed to be Beverley’s PA but as I started to learn about the sector my role developed into looking after clients and their cases I work closely with Philippa, and we are usually the first point of contact when a client is called to a Public Inquiry or Preliminary Hearing. We have an initial 30-minute call with a new client, which is free of charge, to find out about the case and see how we can help. We then work closely with Beverley in advance of the hearings as detailed preparation can make such a difference to the outcome. Clients are often very worried about the hearing; we help to take the pressure off by doing as much as we can for them. Time limits are always very tight and so we obtain all relevant documents, check they are correct, collate and schedule them and send them to the Office of the Traffic Commissioner once Beverley has checked them with her eagle eye for detail. We also take statements from clients in advance of the hearing and deal with any queries they have. The more we can do to reduce their stress the better!

Philippa and I also help Beverley when we prepare submissions to the Office of the Traffic Commissioner for new operator licence applications or applications to change or increase existing licences.

Another key part of my role is ensuring clients respond to DVSA desk-based assessments or investigations in time and that they give the best possible response.

Why Beverley Bell?

Because she is an inspiration. Her knowledge and experience are so impressive and the impact she has made to the transport industry is proof of that.

What is your favourite part of working at Beverley Bell Consulting & Training?

I love the variety of the work. I am called upon to do so many different tasks; this can include anything from attending industry events to seeing current clients and meeting new ones, to preparing a case for a Public Inquiry, to making sure Beverley is in the right place at the right time for one of her multitude of meetings, (this in itself is no mean feat).

I also try not to hold my head in my hands when I open my inbox on Monday mornings when Beverley has sent “just a couple of emails (usually about 30!) over the weekend. I also enjoy calming clients down on the phone if they are in panic mode due to a letter, they have received from the DVSA or the Office of the Traffic Commissioner.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

Like Laura, I have a child who was born on Christmas Day but in a different year.  I am also a qualified FA Level One football coach.

How will you advance your career at Beverley Bell Consulting and Training?

Beverley has enabled me to study for the Chartered Institute of Legal Executive Level 3 exam to become a qualified Paralegal. I am studying for this one day a week through the Government Apprenticeship Scheme and I love improving my knowledge and developing my skills so I can work my way up the career ladder.
